- Leading the 66th Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition to Macquarie Island in 2013/14, which involved spending 14-months on a Sub-Antarctic island, managing a team of forty-five people in an isolated environment.
- Planning "Row for Peace" - a transatlantic row from New York to Gallipoli (marking the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing), to raise funds for victims of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (cancelled due to instability in the Middle East).
- Planning and carrying out a charity fundraising motorbiking trip from the most Westerly point of Australia to the most Easterly.
- Planning and carrying out a charity bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End.
- Planning and carrying out a charity bike ride up Mt Snowdon, North Wales.
- Planning a charity kayak trip down Lena River in Russia.
- Planning and carrying out a charity walk along a section of the Great Wall of China.
